We believe an engaged community is one in which people are attached to the place where they live and are invested in the community\u2019s future. Learn more through our <a href=\"https:\/\/knightfoundation.org\/statement-of-strategy\/\">Statement of Strategy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"rich-text\">\n<p>In Charlotte, Knight Foundation\u2019s work focuses on the Historic West End, which is experiencing substantial commercial and residential investment. Leveraging economic growth, our vision is for the West End to become an inclusive and thriving residential, commercial and university corridor.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"rich-text\">\n<p>The Charlotte program centers on:&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"rich-text\">\n<ul><div class=\"rich-text\">\n<li>Promoting community engagement and ensuring Historic West End residents are connected to and participating in the corridor\u2019s growth.<\/li>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<li>Increasing the neighborhood\u2019s capacity to develop and drive a community vision.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"rich-text\">\n<li>Supporting the creation and programming of public spaces and hubs that foster interaction and connection among residents.<\/li>\n<\/div><\/ul>\n<\/div><div class=\"rich-text\">\n<p>Knight also invests in Charlotte\u2019s arts and culture as a way to connect people to place and to one another. Investing in arts and culture is central to Knight\u2019s effort to build stronger, better informed and more engaged communities, which are critical for a more effective democracy. Learn more about <a href=\"https:\/\/knightfoundation.org\/programs\/arts\">Knight\u2019s Arts<\/a> program.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"rich-text\">\n<p><strong>OUR WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"rich-text\">\n<p>Since 2008, Knight has committed more than $58 million to Charlotte, including investing in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lisc.org\/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwpsLkBRDpARIsAKoYI8xjYLxXQioVDqil8bPIasiENRcFmKUfMSiioZOEHodyTeAGxX_l6AoaAqeOEALw_wcB\">Local Initiatives Support Corporation\u2019s<\/a> community development strategy aimed at driving transformation and promoting economic opportunity in the Historic West End and across the city; helping Project L.I.F.T. launch the <a href=\"https:\/\/knightfoundation.org\/press\/releases\/project-lift-launches-new-programs-to-connect-charlotte-residents-with-technology-expand-economic-opportunity\">Civic Tech Experience<\/a>, which provides the city\u2019s West Charlotte community with digital skill-building and connections to economic resources and community engagement opportunities; and supporting the development of community-based organizations to lead neighborhood transformation such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.historicwestendcharlotte.com\/\">Historic West End Partners, <\/a>the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westsideclt.org\/\">West Side Community Land Trust<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/forthestruggleinc.com\/\">For the Struggle<\/a>.
